Recently, State Council issued “twelfth five-year plan” Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Plan, and require implementing the plan rigorously.

Energy conservation and environmental protection industry means to provide material and technology for saving energy, developing recycle economy and protecting environment, which is one of seven emerging industries of strategic importance. By developing Energy conservation and environmental protection industry, it can help reach the emission reduction target of twelfth five-year plan, and it also can grow new industry for growing economy.

Energy conservation and environmental protection industry has great potential to stimulate economy growth. According to statistics, by the year 2015, China has about 40 million tons of standard coal of energy saving potential, which can bring trillions CNY of investment. Energy conservation service industry can create 300 billion CNY output. The industrial waste recycle industry has huge market potential. Besides, build of city sewage system and desulfurization and denitration system can bring over 800 billion CNY of investment. Moreover, the output of environmental service industry can reach 500 billion CNY.

The plan also analyzes the current situation of Energy conservation and environmental protection industry.  The plan proposes that the output of Energy conservation and environmental protection industry will reach 4.5 trillion CNY by the year of 2015, which count for 2% of GDP.  Moreover, the plan also put forward some policies to encourage technology innovation, key projects developments and new service module creation etc.

During twelfth five-year plan, in order to accelerate the development of Energy conservation and environmental protection industry, China will support eight key projects, including key technology and equipment industrialization, LED lighting application, “city minerals” demonstration, waste recycle and reuse, seawater desalination and development of energy conservation and environmental protection service industry.
